Contemporary economic transformations in the Middle East and North Africa are anchored in an advanced redefinition of traditional investment and geoeconomic concepts. In this landscape, Jordan stands out as a unique model combining macroeconomic structural stability with high competitive agility amidst a regional environment marked by severe volatility.
Economic data for 2026 reflects the success of the Jordanian economy in achieving a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) exceeding the $52 billion threshold. This growth is supported by steady growth rates ranging between 2.3% and 2.7%, alongside a sophisticated banking system closely supervised by the Central Bank of Jordan in accordance with Basel III international standards. Furthermore, the Kingdom maintains high foreign exchange reserves exceeding $18 billion, providing a solid cushion for the stability of the Jordanian Dinar, which is officially pegged to the US Dollar at a fixed exchange rate of 0.709 JOD per USD—thereby minimizing exchange rate risks for incoming foreign capital.
In line with the Royal Vision for Economic Modernization, the Jordanian-European Investment Conference was held at the Dead Sea under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II and in the presence of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The event unveiled a comprehensive strategy presenting a massive investment package comprising over 40 high-value opportunities worth more than $15 billion. These opportunities are backed by a European financial and investment framework totaling up to €3 billion for the period from 2025 to 2027, including €1.4 billion in additional direct investment.
This promising partnership builds upon an attractive legislative framework established by Investment Environment Law No. 21 of 2022. The law brought about a qualitative leap by ensuring full equality between foreign and local investors, providing tax incentives with discounts of up to 50%, as well as broad tax and customs exemptions in development zones, alongside guaranteeing the absolute freedom to repatriate capital and profits without regulatory restrictions.
Capitalizing on its strategic central location overlooking high-capacity regional markets, supported by international free trade agreements, Jordan is transforming into a primary platform for major European and global corporations—such as Microsoft, Amazon, and AES Corporation—to expand their operations into neighboring markets. The partnership focuses on five key promising sectors:
Technology and Artificial Intelligence
Green Hydrogen and Clean Energy
High-Value Manufacturing
Logistics Services and Transportation
Water Security and Sustainability
In addition, Jordan possesses exceptional competitiveness in health, wellness, and medical tourism investments, supported by globally unique historical and archaeological landmarks such as Petra, Jerash, the Dead Sea, and Wadi Rum. The Kingdom also boasts a highly qualified human capital pool, serving as a core pillar for building a sustainable, knowledge-based economy.
This farsighted Royal Vision for the Jordanian-European partnership reinforces the Kingdom's standing as an integrated regional investment hub, overcoming current challenges and opening new horizons toward comprehensive economic integration and sustainable growth.
