As part of the ongoing efforts to restore hope and improve quality of life amid the humanitarian tragedy facing our Palestinian brothers and sisters in the Gaza Strip, Restoring Hope Society (RHS) continues to deliver its vital medical interventions through the "Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Limb Fitting" project, implemented by its teams in Jordan and Gaza with the generous support of Qatar Charity.
The project, currently being implemented in Jordan, provides comprehensive rehabilitation services for children who have sustained injuries resulting in the amputation of one or more limbs. It offers an integrated treatment program combining medical care, physical rehabilitation, psychosocial support, and prosthetic limb fitting, helping children regain their independence and reintegrate into their families and communities.
Mr. Bilal Abbasi, General Director of RHS, explained that the project is part of a comprehensive framework targeting injured individuals and people with limb loss who were affected during the war and lost their ability to move or access appropriate rehabilitation services. He noted that implementing the project in Jordan, alongside the provision of prosthetic limbs and accompanying care, complements the efforts of the organization’s team in Gaza to ensure continued follow-up and service delivery for beneficiaries after they return.
For his part, Eng. Dirar Al-Maaytah, Director of Qatar Charity’s Office in Jordan, said that supporting this project reflects Qatar Charity’s commitment to assisting those affected by the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, particularly children who continue to face profound physical and psychological consequences as a result of their injuries. He emphasized that such high-impact initiatives go beyond meeting urgent medical needs by enabling beneficiaries to regain self-confidence and contribute to building a more stable future for themselves and their families.
RHS affirmed that the project is not merely a medical intervention, but rather a comprehensive humanitarian pathway to rebuilding the lives of injured children. The journey of recovery begins with restoring mobility and extends to rebuilding self-confidence, fostering a sense of security, and enabling children to continue their education and daily lives with greater opportunities.
This support builds on the efforts of Qatar Charity’s office in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which has been working since 2021 in partnership with the Jordanian Government and civil society organizations to implement a wide range of humanitarian and development programs. These include social welfare, sponsorship of orphans and vulnerable families, emergency relief for people affected by humanitarian crises, as well as economic empowerment projects and other interventions.
RHS and Qatar Charity, together with their partners, continue to support initiatives that place people at the heart of humanitarian action and seek to provide sustainable solutions that enable individuals - particularly children - to overcome the impact of crises and reclaim their right to a safe, dignified life filled with hope and opportunity.
